Cropping Assistant

Summary
The cropping assistant operates, repairs, and maintains equipment on a large crop farm. He/she is expected to be an important part of the farm operation and to contribute to the business’ overall success and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Degree in agriculture or mechanics, or 5 years experience in similar related field
- Commercial drivers license recommended
Duties
- Drive tractor with implements to rip, plant, cultivate, or harvest crops
- Drive self-propelled sprayer to apply chemicals and fertilizer
- Drive semi-tractor and trailer to haul harvested crops
- Operate corn dryer, grain legs, vacs, and augers
- Adjust, repair, lubricate, and service farm machinery
- Dismantle defective machines, using hand tools.
- Reassemble, adjust, and lubricate machines and equipment using hand tools
- Test and replace electrical components and wiring using test meter, sodering equipment, and wire strippers
- Weld, torch, or fabricate metal parts
- Operate and repair center pivot irrigators
Relationships
Supervised by owners. Works closely and maintains communications with owners and seasonal workers.
Hours
Full-time position.

Relationships

Summary
The Heavy Equipment/Farm Mechanic will perform repairs and maintenance on trucks, trailers and farm equipment for a large crop farm. He/She is expected to be an important part of the farm operation and to contribute to the business’s overall success and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Class A drivers license.
- Licensed DOT inspector recommended
Duties
- Trouble shoot and do routine maintenance and repairs of trailers and engines, transmissions, clutches, drive line, body components, hydraulic systems, brake systems, electrical systems, suspension systems, wheels and tires, A/C, welding and fabrication.
- Work in the shop as well as drive service truck and make field repairs on equipment.
- Document maintenance performed and parts used.
- Drive tractor with implements to rip, cultivate or harvest crops.
- Drive a self-propelled sprayer to apply chemicals and fertilizer.
- Drive semi-truck and trailer to haul harvested crops.
- Operate corn dryer, grain legs, vacs and augers.
- Operate and repair center pivot irrigators.
- Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
- Assist with other duties for the good of co-workers and the business.
Relationships
Supervised by Operations Manager. Works closely and maintains communication with owners, Managers and co-workers.
